Cascadia Gamers Alliance

Welcome to Cascadia Gamers Alliance. You’ve somehow found this page by search, your friends recommendation, a Twitter post or some other magical means of arriving here. We thank you for joining us! I’m sure you’re probably wondering ok, cool, but who are you? Never fear! We would be happy to tell you all about us in our Story.

Cascadia Gamers Alliance

While you’re here, we can give you a brief overview of what CGA has to offer. For starters, we act as a curator of events and organizer of one of the largest Dungeons and Dragons communities in the Puget Sound. We strive to enable the community to have access to all the space, players, content, and support needed to run a successful game, find players, discuss current D&D content and more. Through Dungeons and Dragons, we strive to become a positive member of the Puget Sound community. Finally, we hope that you’ll find your place among the ranks of our community.

Cascadia Gamers Alliance Story

What is Cascadia Gamers Alliance? We have come a long way from our humble beginnings as a Facebook group setup to find local Dungeons and Dragons games. That description no longer does justice to who and what we have become. In the time that we have been together, CGA has evolved into a full-fledged community in and of itself. Here is the Cascadia Gamers Alliance story.

Our Passion

Our passion is the game, because the game is the modern legacy of Oral Storytelling. Playing D&D with all of the creativity, the drama, the harrowing moments, the triumphs, the laughter, and the friendships is what we do. We are a group seeking innovative ways to do that. We constantly push the boundaries of what it means to game. Like anyone attempting to elevate a hobby into an artform, we try to push the boundaries of the game.

We encourage our DMs and Players to rethink the methods of immersion, the scope and form of how and when people can play, and to bring to the table all of the talents that they have in everyday life. All of this is in an attempt to drive ourselves forward while remaining true to our deep seated nostalgia and traditions. When you love the game, you know it can be better. We can be better improvisational actors, better at helping to teach others to be excellent Dungeon Masters, and better understanding a basic tenet of humanity.

The tenet is that Everyone has a need to be heard by others.

Our Vision

Dungeons and Dragons isn’t just a game to us. Likewise, CGA isn’t just a community. The Cascadia Gamers Alliance story helped create this haven for those who are inspired. This is a beacon in the darkness to find other “Nerds like me”. Real life happens all around us every day, but in our hearts we know that we always have a place we can turn to in order to find a respite from the mundane. Lives change when you have an outlet for creativity; families grow stronger, and friendships are discovered and nourished.

Cascadia Gamers Alliance Offerings

This is not simply a nameless, faceless, hive-mind to get pointers and tips. Of course, tips, tricks, guides, and more are available. However, we are a community created by those who wish to be a part of it. We offer many ways of teaching and improving Dungeons and Dragons gameplay. Because we have found that the best way to learn something well, is to teach it. We want to foster the kind of community where our humility and willingness to serve others is passed on. The end result of which should be that building them up succeeds in bringing up others who can teach it too. Others who can lead and help us grow, because we know the D&D can enrich the lives of anyone who takes to it. Which brings us to our core philosophy when it comes to equipping others.

The Philosophy is this: Anyone Can be A Dungeon Master

The way we share information is fairly informal. For instance, we perform Round-Table style discussions through the Discord communication platform. During these round table discussions we feature Wizards of the Coast printed material in form similar to a college study group.

This group also allows you to meet people interested in the game in a way that does not force awkward first meetings. We accomplish this in the form of monthly Social Events where all members can meet and greet others interested in starting their games. Additionally, some of our vetted and trusted members occasionally open their homes for DM 101 classes and miniature painting.

Above all, we are here for the game. Clearly, we want to play, and we make sure we get the chance to do so! We work with local game stores across the Puget Sound to host our monthly One Shot events. In tandem with these great locations, many of our members volunteer each month to run these games at the One Shot events. And after all, it is still a great place to find others to play with. Whether posting on our facebook group or getting to know others at a social, our original mission to be a great place to list current “games wanted” ads still continues to this day.

Speaking on behalf of the Admins, this is Cascadia Gamers Alliance: It is the best thing we have ever done. We are proud of it, and we humbly welcome you to be a part of this community that we love. We are constantly working to refine Cascadia Gamers Alliance, and, if you’ve finished reading this, you belong here. Thank you for reading the Cascadia Gamers Alliance story.
